Anemone Blue Florist | Wedding Florist, In Kent | Supplier Spotlight

Situated in a quaint glasshouse at The Secret Garden, Ashford, Anemone Blue Florists have a wealth of experience when it comes to wedding flowers. We spoke to Karen to find out a little bit more about their products & services.

1. Tell us about yourself and how you got started?

I started as a Saturday girl in a florist when I was 16 (long time ago) and loved it. I took a career change and ended along different paths. I decided to go back to college to learn floristry 18 years ago! I then worked from home doing it as a hobby. As if by chance I then had an opportunity to work part time in a local florist which i decided to do. The owner decided to sell the business which i snapped up as that's what I always wanted to do before i was 40! I have now had the business for 3 years and it is going well. You now know my age :)

"A hidden gem! Anemone Blue's shop is stunning in all weathers and a treasure trove of gifts, floral arrangements and beautiful homewares. Their bouquets are made with a lot of care and attention and I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking for flowers from your vase at home to your wedding day" - Madeleine Duggan

2. Where are you based and how far would you travel for a wedding?

I am based at the Secret Garden, a fantastic wedding venue in Mersham Le Hatch, Ashford. I am happy to travel to any wedding venue within Kent and have also been known to do a couple in Essex. Ideally though within 50 miles is best.

3. How many weddings do you do every year?

As we are based at a wedding venue and also recommended suppliers at other venues we do on average between 70-100 weddings a year. We have a great team and a fantastic site to work from.

"A stunning array of flowers beautifully arranged." - Dee Humphrey

4. What other services do you offer?

We also offer all other floristry services. We also have some props, vases etc. to help create the perfect floral design. Although we are not a venue stylist we try and provide as much as we can to make the day as simple as possible. If we haven't got it we may be able to get it!

5. What's your availability like for 2021 & 2022?

We have very limited availability for 2021 but we still have dates available off peak. We have good availability for 2022 at the moment

"Karen made 2 beautiful bouquets for my mum and aunt. Well exceeded my expectations, were very reasonably priced too, would 100% recommend. Has some lovely flowers, plants and gifts in the shop too" - Joanne Dickenson

6. What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?

I would say enjoy every moment. Take pictures as you go, throughout the planning stage so you can look back on how it all came together. It may get stressful at times but it is well worth it. Obviously on the day enjoy it. it goes so quickly.

7. Tell us something unique about you and your service!

Our shop is unique, we are in a long glasshouse with beautiful gardens. Because of this we can offer hen days so the bridal party can come and make the arrangements for their weddings themselves. Such a fun thing to do and such an achievement when you see the finished result on the day.

"Thank You' seems so inadequate for the most beautiful flowers displayed over the gazebo and on all the tables. The bouquets were gorgeous. Thanks Again" - Anita Taylor

8. Where can we see more of your work?

Instagram is my friend i post all of my work on there for people to see.

Also facebook and our website.
